I'm jealous...... :-D

I dont have one yet.

what sold me.   is GM helped ford design that 6 speed.         the one place ford has ISSUES.   trannys...

700r4 was a great tranny.   before they hung all those electronics on it and turned it into the 4L60  with servos and such that die at every 60,000

one in my current tow rig has 260,000 miles on it and runs perfect.

most people fry them from driving around town in overdrive.

Very true........although I have the 4L60E in my 95 Impala SS and I was able to get......wait.........yup, definitly not the greatest tranny.  Thats why I wanna swap in a 6 speed out of a Camero one day. :-D

You haven't lived until you have had to "waste" $60 to smog a diesel........and the smog check is this........VISUAL for modifications, LOOK for a check engine light and rev truck to 1500 rpm then floor it to LOOK for black smoke.

Personaly have seen WAY too many injection / Head  issues.

Youd think building dozens of D-max's a year I could agree but I digress. Yes we have an aluminum hardness tester.  We also innovated LB7 "screw in" injector cups. Its all filtration LLY 2004

Have fun with with the cracked heads & lovely injectors . I also do all the magging. 1 set I've seen "not" cracked 7.3 anyway. Did I sat we dont build ford. Dmax & Cummins only

I know I sound like an asshole but your 5.3 was a better plan. Really though your fun

Id like to hear more.   Your not going to offend me.   Im all for open conversatoin.       so here is my personal experiances..

the only thing with the 5.3... is that suits me NOW.    but in the next year Plus.  I fear Ill outgrow it. and start WORKIGN it.

There have been 3 Dmax's in my family.    1 had a new motor, 1 had heads crack, and  all 3 had injection issues.  (more than once each).

one with the cracked head, never towed anything.

the other 2 tow VERY small camp trailers.

the few 7.3's Ive known.    one broke the exh manifold bolts.    but it deserved it.    (foot on the floor driver,  up the hills, runnin CRAZY EGT'S.   I think the sustained egt's are what did it)...   and every single one of them PUKED auto trannys all over the ground. many times

cummins.     only seen one problem in the 4 I have had personal experiance with.    and that was a cracked block. (he had one of the recalled blocks).    dodge put in a new motor under warrenty.

3-4 years ago we were buying 7.3 heads 5 sets at a time, they were all coming in cracked but we could pull the used injectors & ebay them for more than what we were paying for the heads by a bit. We bought like 20 heads & got one good set. We have 2 7.3 powerstrokes sitting on pallets Industrial Injection sent down to build but they're just sitting because of cracked heads. I'm just the dumb laborer that puts this stuff together but what I've seen aint pretty. No airs I drive an old wood panelled wagon that needs paint.  I love fords 6 speed zf ,HUGE beast, dana 60's atleast on both ends but internationals motor

No auto dodges for sure. Dodge cant do them. Avoid 98-04 24v motors UNLESS theyre the HD model , heads crack pretty bad on the non HD.

Just didnt want to come across like I was peeing on your dream I know youve been looking for awhile. That is low miles for sure
if I only had a pair, I could actually ride this thing

& to the people I like  FYYFF

If I'm reading this link correctly 1997 and older diesels with a GVWR of more than 14,000 don't need to be smogged.  Here is the link from California DMV.......

my soninlaws family uses cummins.diesel power did an arcticle on one of his cousins trucks two years ago.from listening to those guys, my next truck will be a 97 or 98 12 valve.5 speed manual, they ere 100% mechanical 0 electronics.those years have the most desireable pumps according to my soninlaw.30 + mpg and over 1k ftlbs tourque , and be able to run on almost any type of oil [you might have to do a little of your own refining] sounds like the ticket for me :-)
