New heads at 115K? Seems a little soon, doesn't it?

I'm off the understanding these years had a flaw and head  replacement and everything else done to it are the best fix money can buy

Kind of like 2001 duramax.  E fix its too replace the heads

Perhaps the Ford boys can chime in on this?

Yell at me.  I'm starting to get frustrated in all the trash out there and looking at heavily discounted 2013's.

Sad. Part is they sent much more that 06-09 trucks with 100k miles. Used diesel prices are insane

Y.E.L.L.
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

I want that really bad, but it'd get annoying being stopped all the time to talk about it.

Are you dating yourself?   My parents bought their first house here in San Diego on 1/2 acre. For 23,000$    and was above the mediun house level.     Their place is worth about $850,000 now.   And medium house here today in this economy is 450-500000$   cousin just bought a house for $515,000. And is now painting the entire thing redoing the floors. Electrical etc.    Scary money

okay back to serious discussion.

Low milage diesel trucks are priced to the moon.     to the point that buying a leftover 2013 would make more scense.

BUT that is way WAY WAY more freeking money than I want to spend.

so.

I like the 8.1L 4x4 2500HD chevys.    but they are like Hens teath.     rare as hell.     and when you find them, they are still expensive   around 18-22K.

Looking for HONEST oppinions on the  V10 triton fords.

Lots. and I mean LOTS of them around here, in immaculate shape,   F250, 4x4.   etc.    with under 50K miles on them for in the $16K range (asking) which means 14 to me

power numbers look very close to the 8.1l chev.

as long as you stick to the right year range
(I know usmc drove one and doesnt like it, im curios if it was the s**tty power years 97-99?

All the 3v V10 motors starting in Late 2004  are rated as 362HP and 457 Ft Pounds torque

Before this change to 3 Valve heads the 2v V10 from 2000 to 04 was rated at 310 HP and around 425 Ft pounds

The early 97-99 motors were rated between 275 and 295 HP

do you know if the same s**tty trans behind the Power stroke is on the V10? or worse?
I hear the 04 and up  5R110 TorqShift 5 speed    oppinoins on that?

I did drive one of the early triton V10's......It just felt like the thing couldn't get out of its own way......wasn't a fan....and even though its not really a big deal, I'm not a fan of the exhaust note the V-10's put out....I'm just screwy like that.  Not to mention that the one I drove go HORIBBLE gas mileage. :-D
I once heard my buddy Bill ask Danny Hamel after a race....
"How can someone who looks like a high school band tuba player go so d**n fast on a bike?!"

Have a 99 with the V10.  Second owner.  Put Thorleys on it and S&B intake.  Added flow thru muffler.
Got a tune.  4 speed auto.  Goes pretty well.  Towed 9000 a few times, no problem.  Tritons like to rev.
Very little problems, but I take care of the truck.  Gas about 10 in town, 14 highway, not towing.

Can't get the V10 to sound like a V8 but it ain't horrible.  Ford Truck Enthusiasts website is great, kinda like this one is for KX500's...check it out and go from there.  Good truck.  Good luck.
