finding the elusive vforce 2 reeds
« on: August 17, 2013, 02:34:15 PM »
What jet skis do they fit ?

Doesnt the kx250 have the same manifold pattern, just a smaller high velocity throat ,lowend type in a 500. Like these

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2003-KX250-KX-250-Vforce3-Reeds-Boot-Intake-Cage-Engine-Motor-/400535917714?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3AKawasaki&hash=item5d41cd1492&vxp=mtr

What other options are there?

I've had no luck on finding any too. Like you, I would like to hear one of the geniuses chime in.

Just some pics of 2 sets of kx250 vf2's I picked up

Heres you can see part of why vf2's are better, almost like a built in reed spacer

Both of these vf2's were listed for kx250's but one would be better for lowend, particularly in a K5, "the narrower, smaller throated one anyway"
& the other looks like the K5 reeds to me , full width & a gaping maw. Both have DM08 on them, its the only part # I can see anyway

I still would like to get my hands on the jetski reeds too, but I'd need a definitive answer as to what ski. My pics kinda suck if you need better from a certain angle to clarify just holler

Will these be the cages from the jet ski with kx500 reeds swapped onto them, or true VF2 for the KX500 direct from MT?

Well, I was messing with a Jet Ski motor this morning. It is a 750 with a reed valve. After reading the post about a jet ski reed fitting the KX5, I decided to pull one out and see if it fit. Yes it does. Not sure about anything except the bolt spacing and fitting into the case.

I have done the same thing with the jetski reeds. I have a dead Kawasaki 750 motor in my garage currently

decoded= 800/750 (carbon-tech HT)

KX250 manifold (rubber boot) is shorter (around'94) putting your carb in closer to the cylinder.

hope this solves some of your search time

anyone remember the rubberized reed cage Kawrider was messing with?  not sure what it was out of, but I remember chatting with him quite a while ago before things went down hill.
