Hey guys, I am getting ready to rebuild my engine once my crank comes back from Pinnisault.  I am wanting to change all my bearings... Engine cases hasn't been apart ever in 13+ years (2000KX250).  I was wondering if anyone here has cross-referenced any of the bearings in these machines.  I can get Timken, National, and SKF through my work for cost, and would save me alot of money as my local Kawi dealers are charging a fortune (Tax plus a surcharge and shipping.)

Let me know if anyone has any numbers they have matched, I have only found one matching bearing from Timken so far its a #628, HK1210, HK1412.

I can't help with cross-referencing bearings, but you can buy OEM bearings online from places like Chaparral and Rocky Mountain ATV/MC.

I would like to support my local dealer, but said dealer doesn't seem to want my business all that much. The place has some crazy policies that have shied me away. If you buy online from the dealer's website, you get great prices, but there's a big shipping charge, tax on top of that, and no in-store pickup is allowed. The other option is to go to the local dealer's parts counter, but the over-the-counter prices are much, much higher than the same dealer's online prices.

Chaparral's prices are the same whether you're in the store or on the website. Rocky Mountain ATV/MC is out of state for me, but dealing with them online as well as on the phone has been a pleasure so far.

Final thoughts:

--If you can get your engine bearings pulled you should be able to measure them and order what you need based on the measured sizes.

--You may not need to replace all your bearings. The safest bet is to replace the main crank bearings (and seals, of course). From the sound of it, you may already be getting crank bearings from Pinnisault.

Hey kevin,

Thanks for the reply first of all.  I am looking at all options, but best for me is to order through my work.  I'll try to get as many as possible matched, and yes I have removed the bearings from the cases.  The only thing is that the bearing manufacturers don't produce catalog with all dimensions anymore, you get a few examples etc.  So I'm going to send them off to our guys in our purchasing department to matchup and order for me.

So far the bearings I have matched from Timkin are 1/3 to half the price of what my kawi dealer is offering.

I'll post up what I match=up here if someone is interested.

The numbers on the bearing/seals are an industry standard. All you should need to order them is the number off them. I get all my bearings and seals from a local bearing supplier. I just call them with the numbers, no dimensions needed but they can also look them up that way as well.

Whatever bearings you buy, be sure to specify that you want, US, Japanese, British, Swiss, German, ect.
You DO NOT want Chinese bearings....
There is no industry standard in China that they are legally (In their country) required to follow and they can stamp whatever they want on the side of them.
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.
