Engine year identification? Only have the engine VIN

Hello all I picked up a kx500 engine to rebuild but I cannot figure out what year it is! I don't have a frame to match it to.... the VIN on the engine reads: KX500BE013037

Can anyone tell me what year engine this is? THANKS! :-D

1991 is KX500BE013001 - KX500BE0134xx
