And when I say problems I mean the issue with me not being able to shift into 5th, also while I have everything pulled off I may sandblast the frame and have it powder coated if its not too pricey. After seeing all this money I'm going to be putting into it I feel like selling it and buying a new 4 stroke! :(

Everythings pulled off the bike I have the casing split now I need to figure out what size socket I need to get my clutch basket off, the biggest I have is 24mm. Once I get the clutch basket off I guess I'll be able to see the shift forks and determine what's causing my shifting issue.

nut size 27 mm or 30 mm

a worn clutch is never the cause of shifting problems . a clutch gives grip or slip to the secondary drive, but you can always shift all 5 gears.

 maybe the output-gear of first gear is removed and replaced with a bushing?? and another drum installed?? i know some mx- gp-worldchampionship-teams made something like that... cause of never using first gear and get less weight to the bike.

I have the clutch basket off I can see the shift forks and everything but I'm not too familar with what is considered worn or what's considered good. I'll try and post some pictures of it and see if any of you can identify my issue.

Some pics and questions, is my piston bad? I'm getting a motorcycle mechanic to look at my case tomorrow. I have no experience with this stuff so I need someone to diagnose my issue. I'll let you guys know what he finds.

Also... how do I know how big of a piston I need. I searched on eBay for pistons but it seems like they're all different mm. They close in size but still different mm.

You will need to measure your cylinder.
If you don't know how or have the tools, take it to your nearest Kawi dealer and have them measure it for you.
Clean the inside of the cylinder really good so they can look at it for you and make sure it is still usable.
If I saw detonation like your piston shows I would get a new one.
While you have the top end off you should measure the rod to crank clearance..
And, after all that you need to figure out why you are having a detonation problem.

What normally causes detonation problems? Running too lean or to rich?

Took it to a Kawasaki dealer to have him look at the inside of my case... he says everything looks ok...but i think hes full of s**t. He seemed kinda irritated when I said I just wanted his advice and I was going to do the work myself. Anyway, I'll post pics of my shift forks in a couple minutes and see what you guys think. the pins are very straight and dont seem to have much wear if any on them. the drum may be slightly worn but not much. I'm so confused.
Please somebody help me.
