'03 KX125 bottom end rebuild advice
« on: June 30, 2013, 08:59:40 PM »
Hi there - son's newly purchased used '03 KX125 seized over the weekend. Vendor said had recently had top end rebuild and piston certainly looks new, so guess bottom end gave up. Motor out of frame already and head / barrel already off, waiting to split the cases. Am contemplating buying Hot Rods entire crank assembly and new top end, so that effectively the motor is new and I have confidence in it. Aside from main bearings, main seals, crank assembly, con rod and piston - is there anything else I might as well replace while I have the cases apart? Are the Hot Rods cranks recommended? Am looking at either Namura or Mitaka top end kit (options that appear available in the UK) - any views on these? I already have rotor puller and crankcase splitter - any other specialist tools I will need. Apologies for naive questions, but will be my first time splitting the cases on a two stroke!!!!

Cheers!
