Hey guys, just finished repairing the clutch side of my case that had a nice crack in it. Was getting ready to clean up the ignition side of the case and weld this small hole. Until I came to my senses and noticed that it could actually be for oil drainage of somesort? Is this supposed to be here... it looks cast in place. I could see that they probally didn't want oil to collect in the ignition side to much, but wouldn't this cause a good amount to leak over time?
BTW guys, I am a diesel mechanic. The smallest engine I have ever overhauled was a ford 351 before this, its almost like a totally new avenue for me! Any help would be appreciated!
this is a drainhole for the case that water comes behind the ignition-cover and so it can go out on this indirectly way and does not damage the coils on the statorplate...
... the 95 that i had a long long time ago didnīt had this hole ... and in the first days i had this bike, it was a sparkplug-eater! than i found out, there was a lot of water behind ignition-cover, dried it and after that, we added this hole and i believe, it runs still with the same plug...
