1986 KX125 Shifter Play
«

I have a lot of play in the shift lever. It is tight on the shaft so the splines aren't stripped.
It appears to only be on the up shift and not the down shift.
Anyone ever had this problem before I tear it down and split the cases?
The bike has a brand new top end.
Thanks in advance.

Anyone?? I'm at a loss. It looks like I will be parting the bike out.

Take the clutch cover off.
Remove the clutch.
Then inspect the shift shaft, shift cam.
Have someone wiggle the lever up and down slowly while you watch the action.
Take some pics and post them of what you find.

The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.
