Back to MX 2000 Kawasaki KX 125
« on: May 18, 2013, 07:07:54 AM »
Hi. I'm Brett. I used to ride when I was kid until I was 15 when my brand new 2003 YZ125 was stolen at 6 months old. I started riding in 2001 on a brand new TTR-125, 6 months later I moved up to a 2002 YZ85 and 11 months later I got my 2003 YZ125 and started racing.

10 years later I'm back and I just bought a used 2000 Kawasaki KX125. The bike is in running condition but I took it completely apart to rebuild it to its former glory and beyond. It was in way worse condition than i was anticipating, but I'm all about the project. The bike was poorly maintainted so basically every bolt on the bike was rusted and didn't match any others, there were tire knobs missing, some stripped screws etc.

I am looking forward to re-learning how to work on, maintain and ride a dirt bike. haha And I am open to all the wisdom and advice I'm sure I will find here.

My bike was taken from me and it was my favorite thing in the world. I plan on rebuilding this KX to where it runs like a brand new bike and looks like a custom factory ride. Any input is always appreciated!

My plans for the rebuild include but are not limited to:

Powder Coating Rims White
Powder Coating Hubs Black
Powder Coating Triple Clamps White
Powder Coating Frame Black
Powder Coating Lower Fork Legs Black
Powder Coating Rear Shock Black

Specboilt 250 piece bolt kit for entire bike

New OEM Footpegs, rear brake, & gear shift lever

Hello and welcome to the forum.
There is tons of great information here and some good guys.
The number 1 piece of advice I can offer you is to get yourself a Clymer Service manual.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-CLYMER-MANUAL-1992-2000-KAWASAKI-KX125-/110981082175?pt=Motors_Manuals_Literature&hash=item19d6fcec3f&vxp=mtr

There is more info there then most could ever use.
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.
