had my second race yesterday on the kx500.. im over on the east coast in NC so all we have is woods.. this was a mountian race with lots of hills, roots, rocks and ruts. 20 min before the start it rained like crazy for 30 min and flooded the place.. they still let us run the race after it all stopped.. this was a 1 1/2 hour race and i had about 25 riders in my class.. the 500 pulled my second holeshot and i lost it in the second turn (very slick), dropped the bike and twisted my bars a little and everyone passed me.. i got up and got going again and started passing people like crazy by the end of the first lap i was 2nd, after the 2nd lap i was in first place and kept the lead for the other 3 laps to take the win..
the loop was 6.4 miles for 1 lap, and it was pure slop..
my starting line procedure is bike in 2nd gear clutch all the way in and kick her from the top and let it rip.. this bike is very hard to beat off the line..
i also bought the Emig susp links and set the sag on my bike and she now turns in the tight stuff.. Its so funny to have people come up and talk to me about the bike and cant believe that im riding one over all of the newer bikes... Alot of the older guys come up and tell me what it was like when they use to have or ride one of these ole Kaws!!!!
