2011 kx250f chassis, what are my pipe options?
« on: April 17, 2013, 08:11:15 AM »
Can I use the SH fmf version?
Can I use the adaptor and a CR500 1989-01 style pipe?

Have a chassis lined up, have a couple different year motor options here.

not sure what works for a 2012. for my 2011 i adapted the kx and the cr pipe.. fits really good so i can imagine it wouldn't be too much different for a 2012

The bike ended up being a 2011, kid had 4 250f's and went red. It looks good, 36 hours on the chassis, big brake setup out front, DLC coated forks, perfect stock wheels, a set of carbon fiber Talon hubs with Excel A60's and new tires all around. Got some spare fenders and a pair of seats with it too.
Time to get my butt in gear!

It might take me a bit to finish, I have everything but am building a 2009 crf/cr500 conversion and 3 2002-2003 cr250/ cr500 bikes at the moment.  :-P

good platform to start with Roostius! I remember seeing you over on Bannedcr500riders.com, thanks for liking the Facebook 500af's only page. I love my 2011 kx500afc we did the first day of testing yesterday and it went great! a couple wrinkles to iron out but on the large part it rode great! you will love your 2012 set up

the bike already looks hot just without engine ... :-D

as far as I know, are the front and rear nissin brake caliper since 94/95 kx-models until 2013 the same. brake pads are still the same. (also honda yamaha suzuki use the same nissin- calipers and same brake pads, but diferent master cylinders.)
big 2 stroke bikes are weapons for real men, who don´t fear death or devil. ;O)
´83 kx250, ´87 kx250 (with 360 big bore), 87 kx500, ´93 kx500 sfc

looking at your pictures it looks like you have the rear caliper? but i see no front? i used a front caliper off of a 2005 rmz250 and it works and lines up fine. 2011 nice! same as mine, you are going to love it! what motor are you going with?

Haven't decided in the motor vintage yet

I do have both calipers. But the rear is damaged on the rest side. Pad would sit at a 15 degree angle to the rotor.

cool, may i suggest an 89 or newer motor! i have the 88 and i love it, but it was a bastard year and there is not a whole lot that carried over to 1989. my 88 is a bad ass motor that i do not foresee changing unless catastrophic break down in which case all the mounts are the same and i will switch to an 89 or newer. as for your caliper, i know they where the same for many years! dont quote me but i beleave all the way back to 1999 kx250 are the same

Straight from the Kawasaki website. They have a great lookup tool and able to see what year/model bikes use the same parts. Additional years may work but for some reason or another they are a different part number.

To do this yourself go to www.kawasaki.com and place your arrow over "owner info" then click "parts diagrams". Search for your motorcycle then click "parts diagrams" again. Allow the pop-up. Now go and find the part that you want to know about and click the part number of it. Another window will appear now just click the question mark above the part and the following list will appear. This look-up tool can be used for many things and comes in real handy.
