If it is insured sometimes it is better to not get it back rather then get it back all hosed up. My brothers very nice 1957 Chev was stolen many years ago. He got it back, but not before the kids that took it went stump jumping with it. He got it back, bent A arms, front fenders and all. This was long enough ago so they were the ‘beaters’ of the era, only liability insurance, so all he got was a pile of used parts from the kid that took it to replace the bent items. Sucked.
My year old Honda Interceptor was stolen twice out of my carport, but was found up the street on its side the first time. After the idiots tore the three wires out of the ignition switch ($75) and still could not start it they just dumped it. Snapped off the head lock too. Jerks. Second time it was further away, but still just an ignition switch replacement. Still pisses me off.
