'90 KDX200 White/Blue
« on: July 14, 2012, 11:46:34 AM »
Since the KDX section has been dormant since May, and I'm pretty proud of my just completed build, even though I have shown it elsewhere, I will show off my bike here as well! Just got it finished this week and went on my first ride today. I am extremely happy with how it turned out in both looks and performance.

Engine: Replated cylinder, crank rebuilt by Cooksey Crank, Wiseco forged piston w/Jet-Hot thermal barrier and anti-friction coatings, Hot Rods rod, Ron Black (RB-Designs.com) modified carb and head, Vforce III reeds, FMF Fatty pipe, stock silencer, No Toil air filter, NGK BR8ES plug, and every seal, bearing, and bushing replaced!

Chassis: Look was inspired by the original Polar White '90 KDX. This one started out Kawasaki green. Navy blue frame with white plastics. The front and rear Acerbis fenders are from a '06-'08 YZ450F. Blue Warp9 rims w/SS spokes laced to stock hubs, Tusk Typhoon rotors front and rear, '96 KX125 fork conversion and factory shock - both rebuilt/revalved by Donnie at ZR1 Suspension, Dyna Ring auto clutch with 6 tungsten carbide balls added, Renthal 13T CS sprocket, 48T Primary Drive rear sprocket, RK XW-Ring chain, Fredette chain guide, Tubliss system front and rear, Maxxis SI front/IT rear, CEET seat cover and foam, Dirt-Bike-Gear.com rear fender bag, Tusk YZ bend bars w/3/4" risers, Tusk bark busters w/Maier hand shields, Polisport MMX headlight, Tusk LED tail/brake light, modified aftermarket aluminum H-series KDX radiators, and a Trail Tech Vector computer with lap switch.

Thank you. It took a year and a half to complete with all the little custom touches I did. Just got to dial in the suspension a bit more and she will be perfect IMO. :-D

Looks good! That rear fender will fit the 500 just as well.
A couple of 03 and 04 KXs, a few YZs, 3 PE 400s, a DR and a TS.

Thanks for the compliments!

It won't work without a lot of mods! It is from the '06-'08 Yamaha YZ450f bikes. I had to do some serious cutting to get it to work out and it doesn't fit to the rear of the seat like factory. You can't see the gap as I strategically placed a fender bag there! :-D

I plan to. I am now in the planning/parts accumulation stage for a KDX250 aluminum frame conversion using an '06 KX250f chassis. Should make for one helluva woods/desert weapon!

Dirt Bike magazine has an article on the KDX that Service Honda has started offering......I'm not taking anything away from Service but $13,000 for a KDX is too painfull to stomach......Cant wait to see you build your own KDX250AF!!  Lots of pics and details.......You know what would be awsome?!....KDX500AF!!  Think about it!!!! :-D

I could build ya the motor.   A true  docile stump puller

With low enough 1st and 2nd gear to climb walls..... yet will still do 90mph in 5th

I would love a 500 myself if they weren't so thirsty for the premix.

C'mon...they're not that bad...I think beating the snot out of a 250 uses just as much,if not more, since you're compensating for the lack of power with clutch abuse and throttle.
