Gun control
« on: December 19, 2012, 01:34:02 PM »
Contact your elected officials tell them how you feel

Sir,

Please stand behind our second amendment right's. The issue is not a gun problem but a safe learning environment for our children & proper health care for the mentally ill. Please help to focus on what the true problem is & not the scape goat.

Thank You, Scott

I wont judge you if your view varies from mine but protecting my family & the right's that our fore fathers stood & died for means enough to me to post this , even though it may be viewed as inappropriate. It only takes a moment to be heard

Ill second that!
 and I got your back!
Without the 2nd amendment, the 1st and the 4th will fall.
We should all know our constitution. it should be tought in school.
Thank You
Chris

Firstly im from Ireland(E.U) and this has been big news over here.
Honestly I think your delusional, looking in from the outside
Imo, you will always have people with mental problems, regardless of the money spent on it. And the ease at which these ppl can  access these weapons is crazy. What do ppl need access to assualt weapons for, only the army should have these weapons right?

I hear alot about your argument of protecting your family and how your forefathers fought for this right but realistically what are you protecting your family from? Would your forefathers want to see what is happening now?
I bet any money, their are ppl just like Adam Lanza who are looking at him and thinking of the blaze of glory he went out in and are gonna do the same, as they can get these weapons way too easily, instead of them just hanging themselves in their garage!

Just my 2cent but your gun policy is wrong and needs to change. I agree more needs to be done on mental health care but ppl are always gonna fall through that net

Andy, no offense but you don't get it.

theres an old saying , "when guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have them"  and I believe it.

I'm afraid that this topic can/will get out of hand quickly and maybe it should be tabled.

I agree with you don46.....there's a reason why it says "No Religion/Politics" next to the In General topic.
That's why I've kept quiet on this thread....no offense to 81cr450,because I do see his point ,but I'd hate to see a war over opinions on here.

I want to say what I think but I'm afraid I'll cause the thread to be nuked. :-D :-D

With all due respect Andydunne, Ireland has it's share of innocents being killed,,,Europe doesn't have the answers for America in this regard,,,or we'd still be singing hail to the queen too.

Post was updated in a clearer state of mind.  Corona while working on the bikes subsided by a good meal.

Being American is different than living elsewhere in the world as citizens its our responsibility to keep "The Man" in check. That wont happen if you let them take the right to bear arms. Dictatorships are formed in that fashion

"No Religion/Politics"    I'm in the wrong on that one feel free to delete it Dave

& I also agree with  "I'd hate to see a war over opinions on here."

I said what I felt needed to be said & I believe the other gun toting Americans on here have heard. Freedom require's action from the individuals who wish to be free, even a simple action like writing your senators & congressmen

"Those that seek safety and security over freedom deserve neither!"

"The militia shall be armed not unlike the professional standing Army so as not to be outmatched by them!"

When the founding fathers of this country set up the "Bill of Rights" more than half voted or agreed to it at the Virginia Convention. For the ones that didn't, they were afraid that the people over time may come to believe that these were the only rights they had and that government would decide what other rights were to be given.

Yes we are getting into the "no politics/no religion".  With the on going events..... I think we need a small exemption.  You have 3 days to speak your mind.
Be nice, only your opinion.
I will delete this on the 23rd.

My FJ site has a gun thread for just this. Of course it's not catering to the younger crowd like this one does.

There are many different things to think about here, here's a few.

1 gun control, guns kill, NO THEY DON"T people with no resect for others kill. Butt holes just fist fight.

2 mental health, we use to take weirdo's out of society, but that's not PC any more.

3 good parenting, most of these kids know are from the (it's owed to me generation) and the parents are not diciplining their kids. oh it's ok, don't do it again. Kids today don't know or realize that dads belt has two purposes, maybe dad don't either.

4 social media, They think their hero's, and get all kinds of publicity over what they do. (that's our fault as a society).

5 being a coward, Hide behind guns and bullet proof gear and think your the man your not. your a spinless piece of crap (trying to be pc) Walk into a cop shop or a barracks and see how far you make it. lol

This may come off cold, but I don't think the mother should be considered a hero, if she was a good gun owner this wouldn't have been. She had a kid she was worried about, and tought him how to shoot and not lock her guns real smart.

I think tar & feather and stonings should be brought back, and their 15 min of fame is hog tied to a vehicle and dragged thru the town till nothings left of them, let the victims family drive the vehicle.

I am not a gun enthuisist, but I don't think they should be baned. That said you should go through a back ground check before you by from anyone.
And if you didn't have a gun and someone breaks into your home, your gonna call someone with a gun to save you. HOPE THEY GET THERE IN TIME.

what is the crime rate in switzerland??? almost nill! read up on their gun laws !! they  have done a better job at what our forefathers wrote into our constitution.

The Military of Switzerland perform the roles of Switzerland's militia and regular army. Under the country's militia system, professional soldiers constitute about 5 percent of military personnel; the rest are male citizen conscripts 19 to 34 (in some cases up to 50) years old. Because of a long history of neutrality, the army does not take part in armed conflicts in other countries, but takes part in peacekeeping missions around the world.

The structure of the Swiss militia system stipulates that the soldiers keep their own personal equipment, including all personally assigned weapons, at home (until 2007 this also included ammunition[3]). Compulsory military service concerns all male Swiss citizens, with women serving voluntarily. Males usually receive initial orders at the age of 18 for military conscription eligibility screening. About two-thirds of young Swiss men are found suitable for service, while alternative service exists for those found unsuitable.[4] Annually, approximately 20,000 persons are trained in basic training for a duration from 18 to 21 weeks (increased from 15 weeks, in 2003).

sound like a perfect idea to me pegger. i know i would have benefitted greatly from some military training at 18 yrs of age! even now  wouldnt hurt    i am thinking it is what our country needs. get alot of problems off of the street and give them some training.
