Lighting question for the k5 guys.
« on: December 13, 2012, 12:50:30 PM »
okay so, i have a set of HID 4 inch lights that i would like to see go to use, preferably to my k5. heres a link to the lights ( http://www.scooterx.biz/en/parts/315-hid-euro-inch-black-4-light.html ) they say 35w 10amp start up and 1.5amps to run. i believe ricky stator offers a 75w stator for the k5. im here to ask if i could run 2 of these lights on my k5 with just a 75w stator of even if i could find a 35w one to run just one light. not looking to race baja at midnight just want some light option without spending to much.   any feed back would be much appreciated  thanks guys

I'm doing a Lithium Iron battery on my SM project.
Yes, I'll have to recharge it after about 5 hours or so of riding but so what.
I'll make some leads coming out of the air box and just plug it in when I'm not riding.

The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

in theory i could do the same with say a trickle charger and just hook the lights up when  the sun goes down correct? this isnt a supermoto it's just a bike i tend to take longer rides then i should lol. thank you for the idea but any idea on the stator? cause if it cost me 100 for a stator that would run just one that would be awesome

None of the cheap stators that I am aware of are worth much.
They claim 35 watts but that is max output at high RPM.
Your lights will not work on those 35 watt stators.
The battery is simple and you have the right idea.
Battery, lights, on/off switch, fuse.
If I remember right one of our members had a nice Ricky Stator for sale but I don't remember who or how much.

If you are going to run Baja at night you need something reliable and self sustaining.  If only there was a system available that put out 100 watts.  Oh wait!  Try this

Why not the battery and the ricky stator for charging, might not be enough but it would extend your lighting time.

I've considered the same thing as a phase II project with the addition of a regulator.

you guys already started with my next question ha... 35w at max rpm would be able to charge some of the battery right? plus if i put a on/off switch day time riding would charge the battery enough for a night ride. correct?
