Pipe guards???
« on: March 22, 2013, 03:58:16 AM »
Who's using what? Need one for the SH pipe. Ordering one for my new Gasgas 300, so I thought  I'd try and save a bit on shipping. Not sure to order for a KX500, or CR500. Thinking of the E line carbon guard.

Cheers

I myself don't use one...but all the woods guys around here use E-Line everything...pipe guards, skid plates, disc guards...etc,and love it!...Kevins shop is just a few minutes up the street from me,great guy,and he takes good care of his customers.
Excuse me, ma'am...but you've got extremely nice legs!!!...what time do they open???                                                                                                               https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8tCgN3aryQ

E lines have been made in China for quite some time now and the quality/fit and finish has gone out the window. They disintegrate over time and are very thin. Give P3 a call at 609 377 5571 http://www.pirieperfprod.com/. They may be able to help you out. They used to make all the guards for E Line. The guard would be the same as a 2001 CR500 FMF Gnarly pipe.

I realize that's your opinion...but the majority of the AA riders up here still use E-Line with no complaints...they go right to his shop, which is just the next town over from me.Granted, most of his customers have been with him since the mid 90s,and have good friendships/business relationships with him...but I have yet to hear any negative things about about him....until your post.

Nothing bad to say about the man himself. Ive met him before and he seemed like a nice guy, dont know him though. The guards have gotten thinner and more brittle since farming the production off to China. Ive been racing enduros since the mid 80s, decently fast A rider, and have used both versions of the Eline guards. My 02 YZ250 was used to make the original Eline pipeguard, skid plate, frame guards etc. for that model year. The China guards just dont hold up. Obviously out of convenience, loyalty etc. people from NETRA would go to him. Just like people from the ECEA go to P3 to get their guards. Ill try to post a pic of a pretty much shattered China Eline for a Gnarly and a P3. The differance is very noticeable.

this was one of the things I meant to question in my 1st quote.....I'm not sure how long you mean by "over time".....but because of contingency reasons, the guys are putting no more than two seasons on a set of E-Lines.Which in my opinion,if you're a AA rider in granite infested New England trails,2 seasons is very respectable...then they sell the bikes with the guards still on,so the new 2nd hand owners probably get another season or two out of them, depending how badly they're smashing them off the granite.
I myself never got into enduro/hare scrambles, but I do love going to a race to spectate!....I've been an A mx rider since 94.
