Here is the one I made YEARS ago  15min before leaving to the desert (dont judge it too much)...
For you 1987 K5 guys...   (wont work on new ones... no tabs to mount to)
Trick is to angle it back to take some stress off the flag...

And this one combines my want of stealth.. leave on the bike all the time..

Trick I learned with mounting flags to motorcycles... is mount them in the ... what I call.... 50MPH  stance..     fix's alot of the BREAKAGE problems vs mounting straight up...

also makes it... so if you have to Bail off the back.. you dont break it off  (and impale yourself with it)...

In my experience the further back it is mounted, the better.
When I had mine mounted on my rear axle, I kept breaking them off.
When I mounted them to my exhaust I would break them off when trying to get away from my bike in a hurry  :-D
I now have mine mounted way back on my fender.
I can't wait to see what you come up with...
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

I like making mounts that   1. dont screw up body work (big ugly holes)..    Im a priss like that...

and are stealth... hidden, and not where If Im in a desert race. I can catch myself on them...    (all of the above)

ones Like arigatos are nice... but I dont like having to take them on and off for dunes and "other" riding...

I wanted somthing that could stay on the bike all the time... (no need to try and find the bloody mount when it comes time for dunes trip).. trust me.. I know.. I have several mounts for my Husqvarnas... that when it comes time to need them.. I spend over an hour looking for them

I like it.
Let me know if you can still catch your boot on it as you are mounting the bike.
It looks to me like it is far enough back not to be a problem but then I have big feet.....
And by the way, nice welds...
