Having electrical problems on your K5?

<< < (3/6) > >>

alward25:
Nothing because it is still not going to ground and that is what kills the engine.  The kill switch has a contact that you close when you push it completing the circuit to ground.

sandblaster:
Makes sense because those two wires have continuity between them.
Thanks Alward25 for clearing that up..  :-o

81cr450:
Your talking about the wire in the bottom right corner of the pic & yes thats longer & easier to see where it goes.
But look at the label

Stop Switch
black white to
*cdi black white*

Right below that is

*cdi black white to*
stator black/white

* They * both come out of the cdi & are the same color & length. Their the first 2 out of the loom coming from the cdi

Sorry if I'm being dumb  :? I just would like to be able to completely unplug my cdi & just not worry if it will start again.

sandblaster:
No, your not being dumb.
Sometimes it can be hard to explain what you are thinking so confusion is easy.
Either of those specific black/white wires can be switched around as they go to the same place within the CDI.
Then again you can always label the wires before you take them apart

Thats exactly what I wanted to hear :-D
It also explains why I shocked the s**t outta myself with the exposed kill wire yesterday

 :? :? :? You mean you can write on tape & mark them

But really how many used parts suppliers label the cdi wire before they send it to you  :-D :-D :-D
