1987 kx 500

Why does my 500 run wide open when you start it up instead of idle ? HAVE REPLACED THROTTLE CABLE, CHECKED EVERYTHING , DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO CHECK.

could be a air leak somewhere or your carb is plugged up or has stuck floats ,Could be your mag side crankseal,base gasket,cracked intake boot or gasket,Eliminate one thing at a time

Thanks for the help.I knew it had to be something simple. the local shop told me to adjust the idle screw.

this may sound stupid and simple but check your idle screw, some of them vibrate themselfs all the way in.
The 2-smoke runs deep in this one...
