My Foot HURTS
« on: August 23, 2012, 09:09:48 AM »
With all the vintage bikes around my stable..    Im lucky to live with a steep driveway.   BUT..  when it doesnt fire... you have to push her back up...     Currently the K5 is making my foot hurt.

got me to thinking.

anyone ever build a stationary bump start deal?        kind of like in the beginning of "the worlds fastest indian).

Hahaaaa...the title brings back funny memories of the old lady in Happy Gilmore that says..."my fingers hurt".

Now I admit,I'm not the brightest bulb in the room, but I could've sworn I read before that you run one of Larrys compression release mods on your K5 :?....or are you trying to fire it up barefoot?  :-o
Excuse me, ma'am...but you've got extremely nice legs!!!...what time do they open???                                                                                                               https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8tCgN3aryQ

Without.   I cant even start it.   push it over top dead.... JUMP with all I got into the air, down onto the kicker..   and it stops my 190LB ass dead in its tracks  once it comes back up to TDC...       :-D

Changed a BUNCH of things all at once.. and cant get her to POP...   so yea.. my foot hurts

Ahhhh...15:1.

So this could qualify under self-inflicted pain

Yes..

I have seen it done this way on the trail..   But a stand alone box would be cool (for in the garage)

what about trying the roll start in say 3rd or 4th if you are already in 3rd. The taller the gear the easier it will turn it over. Either way I hope it starts easier after warmed up, hahaha. Would suck to push very much. Maybe you just need a bike return like an escalator to get the beast back to the top of the drive, :-D
Sorry for the jokes, don't know too much about the real answer. What about the drum style roll start like thats on a dyno?

Even though I knew better, I had the some really cheap boots and kicking that big 500cc piston with increased compression would just make my right arch ache after every ride. Plus one misjudged kick and the IMS pro foot pegs (stainless steel cheese graders, but I love the traction and wider platform)  put a hole right on the inside plastic part of the boot above the sole. Never had this happen to me before, but it didn't take me long to shell some coin for top of the line boots that have way more protection and have replaceable parts. Larry's compression mod would've been more cost effective! I really need to do this next. Maybe you should have Larry do two of these compression releases on your head Motorrad!

Now you got me wanting one. Make an extra set of rolls and it should work for quads also.
Should be alot simpler and cheaper than figuring out how to add electric start  to all my old 2 strokes.

15/1? Ouch! Even my stock one would skid on asphalt in second gear! With the comp release installed and stock compression it will bump start now. Got to watch that instant hit though! I wonder about using a snow mobile track for a roller? Kind of bulky though.

You're not instilling any positive  confidence in me for bump starting my kart project.
