KX500af conversion tips
« on: July 12, 2012, 08:12:48 AM »
Im new to this board and im trying to find out some information on who and where to go to for all the stuff i will need to make the conversion. Im about to get a 06 kx 450 rolling chassis and i have my kx550 motor sitting on the bench waiting to be put in the frame.  Ive been reading alot about the frame mod, theres the jfab options and the cut and extend the frame option (correct me if im wrong on anything im new to this). Is there any more options for the frame mod? Which one would be the strongest because im 6' 7" 280 pounds and i race desert and ive seen some of these mods on some guys bikes cracking and I dont want that to happen.  Also the pipe, i heard service honda wont sell you one of their pipes if you didnt buy one of there bikes? Anything else you guys can tell me would be great, like i said im new to this and i want it all to be the best.  Any tips will be greatly appreciated.

if you dont mind me asking how much was the service honda kx pipe? i imagine it would be more than a mass produced off the shelf fmf version.

I belive the pipe was 239 and the hoses were some were around 130 for the set get both they made things alot simpler on assembly.
