ok...5th attempt at replying...we'll see if the site f**ks up again...
it got ice/condensation in the right carb....
when I bought it in '07, Bob of Bob's Ski-Doo told me to leave the hood screens OPEN at all times, UNLESS I was riding in deep powder.
The last ride last year, we got a fresh 6" the night before...so I went out rippin around, no big deal...but, I hit a snow drift that was about 3' deep...pretty much plowed through it.
About a mile later, I was just cruising steady at either side of 50mph....then it just suddenly bogged out and died, no warning what-so-ever. I opened the hood, and motor was covered in snow....and it was locked up tight!
here's a pic of the right side piston....
the iced up carb caused it to go extremely lean...
this thing has liquid heated carbs...but I didn't have them turned on, because typically they don't need to be on, unless you're in 20 degree or less weather, or riding in deep powder...it was just below freezing that day.
So my plan was to do a COMPLETE rebuild...I got the motor out a couple weeks ago...then started scrolling through Bob's website for OEM parts, and saw that Ski-Doo offers a "short-block"...for those who aren't sure what that consists of...it's the ENTIRE engine, minus the head, electronics, clutch, and exhaust...all for $1475.00...if I were to buy everything piece by piece, it would've been nearly double that!...AND...Bob also said, if they did the install, he would give me a 1 year warranty on the motor!...that was a "no-brainer" decision.
So hopefully in 2-3 weeks it'll be done.
