KX500 woods setup
« on: July 10, 2012, 05:46:57 PM »
Hi everyone I'm new so if this has already been talked about i'm sorry in advance.. I recently got a 1998 KX500 that has less than 10 hours on it. The bike is 100% stock. I only ride trails and am wanting to know of any good mods to do to the bike. Also I have heard about converting to a 18 inch rear wheel?. Also does anyone make a auto clutch for it? relvoc use to but they are out of business now..Thanks

I run a Steahly flywheel weight, http://www.steahlyoffroad.com/flywheel-weight/kawasaki-kx-500-92-04-flywheel-weight.html

biggest rear sprocket that will fit,

Cycra pro hand guards  http://store.cycraracing.com/ceremo11ba.html ,

Scotts shark fin http://www.scottsonline.com/Product_Photo_View.php?ID=102&Make=Kawasaki ,

IMS over sized tank http://www.imsproducts.com/Products/index.cfm?ManufacturerSet=Kawasaki&maD=true&ModelSet=KX500&modD=true&yeD=true&siD=true&TypeSet=Fuel Tank&SeriesSet=&sed=true&tyd=true&YearsSet=88-05&SizeSet=3.6 gal ,

over sized front rotor, I think it's an EBC rotor, I run this on the KX500AFC bike http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/2/10/209/25325/DPITEM/Dirt-Bike-Motocross-Brake-Rotors-Braking-Batfly-270mm-Oversized-Front-Rotor-Kit.aspx

ASV shorty levers,  http://asvinventions.com/Universal-Clutch-with-Quick-Adjust-Pro-Perch.html

2008 CR450R Honda front master cylinder so the Cyra hand guards will fit without bending them.

I would only use an auto clutch if you can over ride it with the clutch lever.  I ran into a hidden tree limb riding my CR500, it jerked my right arm making me pin the throttle.  I ride with my hand on the clutch lever and clutched it saving a loop out.  With most auto clutches you can no longer push start the bike.
