KX500 Timing Adjustment
« on: April 18, 2012, 06:34:05 AM »
Stupid question . I am new to the KX500 and just going through the tuning process to get a 2003 model set up correctly .
I did the exhaust over , installed a Boyesen Rad valve , rejetted the carb, did the chain and gearing and now I would like to check to confirm that the timing is set correctly .
Does the flywheel need to be removed ? I am looking at the proceedure in the manual and it seems super simple , but ,
I cannot see any alignment marks or stator screws to loosen . What's the scoop ?

Remove the flywheel, then look at the stator.  (picture it as a clock, look at the bolt in the 2-o'clock position)  this is where your timing marks will be.
America is all about speed. Hot, nasty, bad-ass speed.

That's what I figured . Unfortunately , I don't have a flywheel puller . Thanks for confirming that .
