Hi all. Just picked up a cherry 2000 KX500. I look forward to hangin' with y'all. This is my first KX500 and all I can say is WOW!!!!!!! And I have only ridden it for 10 minutes up a railroad right of way so far!!
Hopefully I will get it dirty this weekend.
Some rider history. I am 42yrs old. Been riding dirt since 2005. I have a KTM 450EXC, a Sherco 290, an old Yamaha IT400, and this KX500. Rode for 10 yrs on the street before that. I mostly race eastern enduros and harescrambles in the southeast. Also into observed trials and regular trail riding. I love the technical type of singletrack riding. I love all types of riding though. Even raced in the Baja 1000 in 2010.
That said, you may ask, what are you doing buying a KX500?? Good question. A guy at a local riding park let me take his 97 model for a spin.
It was VERY well sorted. It was like the bike turned the earth beneath it rather than roosting on the surface!!!!. Incredible!! The power. The sound. Everything. I was totally hooked. I had to have one.
Not sure what I am going to do with it exactly.. hahaha. Maybe I will start hitting the vintage/GP type mx tracks in the south. Seems like a good use of the 500's power.
