Question on piston
« on: January 02, 2012, 10:36:29 PM »
HI
Its time to replace the piston which was recommended by my mechanic. I ordered a wiseco piston.
After receiving the new piston...I notice that they don`t match. The original piston near the wrist pin hole
has is a milled pocket. The new piston has none...is this a problem.
I plan to install the piston myself. Are there any problems I should be a aware of. The mechanic honed the bore.
Do I need to deburr the port holes.

cant see it making a difference just make sure youve got the correct piston i believe the wisecos are different ,yep i would make sure the edges of the ports are not sharp and the barrels well cleaned out ,ie no swarf or cack ,i always coat the piston with 2t for the initial dry start up to minimise the wear .

swarf or cack?
I had to look them up.
Swarf: Material (such as metallic particles and abrasive fragments) removed by a cutting or grinding tool.
cack: (slang) faeces (feces); nonsense or rubbish: "what a load of cack" could equally be used to describe someone talking nonsense or as a criticism of something of poor quality. Also spelt "kak" as used in South Africa. Derived from an ancient Indo-European word, kakkos, cognate with German word Kacke, Welsh word "cach" and the Irish Gaelic word "cac" which means 's%it'.   Dookies, caca, #2, stool, poop, nugget, dump, load, shart, poot, kitty-roca, squeezins, chocolate pudding, dung, excrement, cow pies, feces, meadow muffin, guano....
Is this correct?  :-)

Don't forget to check the ring end gap...
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

It reminds of when my Aunt came for a visit from the UK.
She asked me to get her fags from the boot....
